Imagine stepping off the boat onto the enchanting sands of Indonesia’s Gili Air, where the sun kisses the turquoise waters, and the vibrant coral reefs beckon you to explore their underwater wonders. From this tropical haven, our adventure takes flight as we journey to the mesmerizing Philippines. So where to go and what to do in the Philippines? We start our journey from the idyllic island of Malapascua, from where we continue to the wonderful beaches of Bohol, El Nido and Coron. Each destination dazzles with its pristine beaches, rich marine life and breathtaking natural scenery that will leave you in awe.

But it’s not just the picturesque scenery that makes these places extraordinary; it’s the endlessly cheerful and warm-hearted people we meet along the way. Their infectious smiles and genuine hospitality add a special magic to our travels. We can’t wait to dive deeper into our experiences and share more in our upcoming blogs, but for now, here’s a little taste of the adventures that await. We recently embarked on an unforgettable journey from the tranquil island of Gili Air in Indonesia to the breathtaking destinations of Malapascua, Bohol, El Nido, and Coron in the Philippines. Buckle up as we share the highlights of our thrilling escapade, filled with sharks, ziplining, private boat tours, and so much more!

Leaving behind the serene vibes and crystal-clear waters of Gili Air was tough, but the excitement of new adventures awaited us in the Philippines. After a series of flights and ferry rides. We landed in Cebu City from where we continued by taxi to the port of Maya and lastly by boat to Malapascua.

Malapascua greeted us with its stunning beaches and vibrant marine life. This is definitely the place where to go and what to do in the Philippines if you are a diver or plan to ever dive. The absolute highlight here was scuba diving with thresher sharks. We woke up at the crack of dawn, anticipation bubbling inside us. As we descended into the dive site, the sight of these majestic sharks gliding gracefully through the water was simply mesmerizing. It was a surreal and awe-inspiring experience that we’ll never forget.

Tarsier
Tarsier Conservation Area

From Malapascua, we made our way to Bohol, an island brimming with unique landscapes and exciting activities. First, our journey continued by boat to Maya Port, a 45-minute ride away. From Maya, we embarked on a four-hour bus journey to Cebu City, an adventure in itself as we rode with windows wide open, embracing the tropical breeze due to the lack of air conditioning. The cost? A mere 3 euros per person. Arriving in Cebu, we boarded an OceanJet ferry to Tagbilaran Port in Bohol, opting for seats on the upper deck to enjoy the refreshing sea breeze over the cold, air-conditioned lower deck. Finally, a half-hour taxi ride took us to our accommodation in Panglao, marking the end of a day filled with diverse travel experiences.

A Day of Adventure
Chocolate Hills

Our first stop was the iconic Chocolate Hills. Imagine hundreds of cone-shaped hills stretching as far as the eye can see, looking like giant chocolate mounds in the dry season. Hiking up one of the hills rewarded us with panoramic views that were nothing short of spectacular.

Tarsier Conservation Area

Next, we visited the Tarsier Conservation Area. These tiny primates, with their enormous eyes, were absolutely adorable. Wandering through the park and spotting these little creatures in their natural habitat was a magical experience.

Zipline Adventure

For a dose of adrenaline, we headed to the Danao Adventure Park. Strapped into our harnesses, we soared over canyons on a zipline, taking in the breathtaking scenery below. The thrill of flying through the air and the rush of excitement were unforgettable.

Loboc River lunch cruise

Our adventure in Bohol took us on a delightful lunch cruise along the pristine Loboc River. As we glided down the crystal-clear waters, we were surrounded by lush, verdant scenery that felt like a scene straight out of a postcard.

Underwater Exploration

Bohol’s underwater world was calling, so we grabbed our snorkeling gear and dived into the vibrant reefs. Swimming among colorful fish and exploring the coral gardens was the perfect way to relax and connect with nature.

Our journey didn’t end in Bohol. We set off for Coron and El Nido, where more adventures awaited us. The trip from Bohol to Coron went smoothly with the ferry to Cebu City, from where we flew to Coron. From Coron, we continued by ferry to El Nido.

Where to go in Philippines

In Coron, we continued our exploration with private boat tours. Coron is known for its shipwrecks and dramatic landscapes. Diving into the clear waters to explore WWII shipwrecks was a thrilling experience. Above water, we marveled at the stunning scenery, with each day offering new and breathtaking vistas..

Where to go in Philippines

El Nido is famous for its stunning limestone cliffs and crystal-clear lagoons. We indulged in several private boat tours, hopping from one idyllic island to another. Each stop offered a new slice of paradise, with pristine beaches, hidden lagoons, and vibrant coral reefs. The sheer beauty of El Nido left us in awe.

From diving with thresher sharks in Malapascua to the adventure-filled day in Bohol, and the idyllic private boat tours in El Nido and Coron, this trip was a whirlwind of excitement and natural beauty.
